
Runa Laila is a renowned contemporary Assamese writer, filmmaker, lyricist, poet, and social activist from Guwahati. Known for her versatile creative contributions and strong involvement in social welfare initiatives, she has established herself as a respected name in Assamese literature and cinema.
So far, she has published six novels, one poetry collection, and one book of articles. Alongside her literary journey, she is also the proprietor of JRM Tyers-1 and remains actively associated with several cultural and humanitarian activities.
Apart from writing, Runa Laila works as a film producer, filmmaker, scriptwriter, and lyricist. She is also the Founder Secretary of the women’s voluntary employment organization “Aparupa,” which has a network of nearly 76,000 women members. In addition, she serves as the State Director of the Human Rights International Federation of India and actively participates in various social welfare initiatives across Assam.
Despite battling a serious illness like cancer, Runa Laila has continued her journey with remarkable courage and determination, inspiring many through her resilience and creative achievements.
